“The line between winter and summer season is blurred in Utah, where diehards ski and snowboard enthusiasts can still hit the slopes at the Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort (set to remain open until Father’s Day, weather permitting).

For most of us, however, snorkel gear has replaced ski goggles as we plan our warm weather getaways.

That said, the state with the self-proclaimed “greatest snow on earth” is no slouch when it comes to summer fun, and while we’re fans of hiking and biking in the Utah mountains, you don’t have to be an iron man triathlon athlete to take part in some of the more laid-back activities and festivals that occur throughout the state.

At Alta Ski Area, for example, visitors can time their visit to coincide with the Wasatch Wildflower Festival July 16 to 18. Beaver Mountain, which rents it ski lodge accommodations all summer, will host two music festivals, set for July 17 and Aug. 14.

The Canyons are alive with the sound of music all summer, thanks to a summer concert series that visitors can pair with a gondola ride and lunch at Red Pine Cafe.

Spectators are welcome at the second annual Monster Energy Powder Mountain Motocross, scheduled Aug. 19 to 22, while visitors looking for a mellower experience can stop for barbecue and live music every Sunday afternoon in Wildflower Meadow at Snowbasin. “
