Farmers’ Guest House
The Farmers’ Guest House in Galena, Illinois was built in 1867 and operated as a bakery, store and hotel. This handsome Italianate-style building in was a favorite overnight stop for area farmers bringing goods to market, as well as a gathering place for local folk. This structure in Galena, Illinois remains one of the Midwest’s premier examples of 19th-century commercial vernacular architecture.
